As much as I want Odin to get his butt handed to him, Coal can’t kill Odin. One, Odin is a War God, and then there’s the whole Ragnarok, “Odin dies to Fenrir” prophecy thing
Fenrir *IS* here, though. He’s in the cave behind the waterfall. Order of Operations notwithstanding, the potential here for unforeseen occurrences is high.
I’ll note Norse Myth isn’t deterministic like Greek myth is, a prophecy is just one way things can end up.
Rather, it’s describing the expected outcome of everyone acting “in-character”.
Thor can just… Walk away from Jörmungandr. He won’t, despite knowing he’ll die, because it’s his duty and courage that drives him.
Loki will cause events to spiral out of control, not because he wants everything to go to Hel and have his family get murdered, but because he simply does what he believes is best at the time.
Odin in his desperation to ensure Ragnarök doesn’t occur, moves everything into place so it does, simply because he believes if he knows what will happen, he can prevent it.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA OF ALL THE PAGES FOR ME TO BE CAUGHT UP ON
I just started reading this comic today after seeing it recommended on Evan Dahm’s list and I’ve been enjoying it over the last several hours!
He is a monster, and with green eyes, but is not a green-eyed monster.
Time to get monstrous!
Heck yeah, time to fight God.
The best fantasy trope.
Potential, is it? I got yer potential right HERE
It’s sharp!
Wöoo, go kill that god, Coal!

He’s certainly gonna try!
Odin actually has a chance to do something no God has ever done, To forge a different fate than the one laid out .

Don’t forget, Fenrir is rather close by now
He’s just chilling.
Coal looks very Le Petit Prince in the last panel ❤️
