Shame he had to die to get friends….. or did the beer that Odin make him drink change Coal’s personality? Now he remembers everything his original self is showing?
Not sure whether or not you’re aware of this Sarah, but blood is haraam in Islam, meaning we can’t consume it, even when it’s ours. For future reference, sucking on wounds isn’t something we do. 🙂
Oh dang!! That’s right. I did kind of know that, but didn’t think much of it in this case (it’s certainly something I tend to do, haha). What might be a good way to take care of a little prick without bandages on hand?
Most people I’ve seen just let it bleed or run it under water a few times until the wound clots over, which doesn’t take more than a couple of minutes for a tiny pinprick. I get cat scratches a lot and some of them get pretty intense, but I’m always surprised at how quickly wounds seal themselves up without intervention.
Ohhhh. I know my cuticles bleed a surprising amount, but that’s just cuz I can’t stop myself from messing with them…
Thank you for the feedback! I will be sure to make a note to change this for the print version, and maybe update the web version when I’ve got a chance.
My first instinct was to discourage you and give a shamefaced apology for bringing it up in the first place, because that’s a disproportionate amount of work for such a trivial detail. I hadn’t expected that you would go back and change it; all I really meant by my comment was to bring up a fact you may not have known or thought about as you were planning out this page.
But that’s actually such a touching gesture of respect for your readership and for the religions you incorporate into TMK. I deeply appreciate how intent you are on properly representing ways of life that aren’t yours, to the point where you’ll make changes for one random reader who does live one of those ways of life.
Though I still feel a little guilty for giving you more work, I won’t discourage you from doing something that has doubled my respect for you and my love for this comic. And that’s saying something, because I’ve been avidly along for the ride since I was 14 (I’m now 21). Thanks for making such a great comic, Sarah.
Oh, never apologize for this stuff! I want to know if I’ve messed something up like that, and I appreciate your comment being polite and encouraging. It wouldn’t be much effort here to just move his finger, though I may not update it until I start putting things together to print. I hope you’ll tell me about any other glaring errors you see regarding Islam/Ibrahim/etc. (though I’ll do my best to limit them too!).
And it means so much that you’re still reading after all these years! I hope you’ll continue to read it for the years (and years lol) to come. Thank you!
His what now? That’s a funny way of spelling “kidnapping victim.”
Tomato, tomahto.
He’s finally admitted it
Hard to say out loud sometimes!

Maybe! Or maybe not.
Here’s Coal stitching his psyche back together. Nice.
He’s certainly trying.
Zander. Willow. Yellow crayon.
Dunno what this means but thanks for reading!
