This is a very good plan that will certainly not fail
It’s infallible.
He is starting a fight by throwing away his only weapon. He did not think this through very well.
now I’m confused: which one is dumber than the bag of rocks? Or was the bag this Guy’s head? Oh well, Rock-head is kaput-stein.
The Dumber-Than-a-Bag-of-Rocks Club always has room for new members!

That’s meant to imply Loki is letting his magic fade. He was going to do something to prevent injury just in case Coal wasn’t fast enough.
Wait, so it wasn’t Loki’s magic that stopped the spear?
Nope! He had readied something just in case, but Coal managed to stop it first. He probably would have shifted the metal into clay or something else that wouldn’t hurt.
