Ooooh dear. So many omenous-looking omens. Lookit those ears. I predict feels and reveals. Maybe not in that order.
Separately, I love this art! Your patterns fascinate me, how they convey so much while being visually un-complex. They’re like how in some simple songs & poetry the words manage to mean more than what’s actually there.
He doesn’t know who St. Peter is, lol. To be honest it’s more of a nod to the fact that the cross upside down looks like Thor’s hammer. Or a sword. Both work.
OK here is my take. The open shackle over Hedda is her new freedom, the intact shield is that she is alive, the wolves…. she is feral? The crosses are religion, hers christianity
Coal, the closed shackle his bond with Odin, the broken shield – he is dead and the lamb is innocence and youth. The cross over Coal is for the Old religion.
They are “high fiving” to show friendship. However cautiously Coal is towards getting close to anyone. He seems to be showing either post death growth or revealing he was a nice young man before his death.
Cool new chapter cover, and I echo other commenters in enjoying all the symbols packed in here. Hedda is a fabulous character and I’m looking forward to the focus returning to her for a while. Butbut, has poor ibrahim now been stuck suspended in mid-air in mid-faint? ;}
Interesting symbolism. Looking forward to this chapter
It’ll be a good one!
Ooh, cant wait!
Some good stuff.

Ears?? On the…lamb? I dunno, Coal has normal ears and Hedda’s are covered lol.
(2 years later) I meant the ears on the wolves.
Oooh, monkeydogs! Frightened prey animal, and did Hedda finally get a new dress?
Maybe I was a bit too fancy with the tails there, lol. They’re just wolves. Wolves always feature on title pages that focus on Hedda. :3
Monkeywolves… even better!
Trying to decide if Coal respects St. Peter or is just really metal.
I kinda like the idea of both!

Yeah, high fives! Those mean friendship!
And crosses and shackles and wolves! Those mean,…friendship?
So many meanings!

The idea of them high-fiving is so cute to me, hahaha.

Ibrahim’s okay, don’t worry, lol. And I’m excited to focus on Hedda for a chapter too.
