Does your comment system have a way to filter out swearing? You could add the phrases “I used to be”, “like you”, and “then I took an arrow to the” to the list of swear words. This would be especially amusing if there was some way to have it allow the post but auto-censor swear words. You’d get comments like “****** berserker ******, ****** arm.”
I mean im pretty desentisized to such things with all the gore and scary stuff I see. This is Ibrahims first time seeing someone remove an arrow from their arm without flinching
Have you ever listened to the podcast “Myths and Legends”? I’m working my way through it’s storied backlog and there’s lots of Norse episodes (amongst other awesomeness). I highly suggest giving it a listen! Also, I think we can cross “Doctor” off of Ibrahim’s list of future careers.
I have not listened to that podcast! I should listen to more…Also yes, Ibrahim has studied many books about medicine but that’s not quite the same as seeing things in real life.
I feel for Ibrahim, I don’t like needles and the thought of an arrow is even worse. I am curious, is there no blood for an artistic choice or is there a lore reason? Someone mentioned he is dead, but I thought Odin resurrected him.
I assumed this was because Odin’s beer made him magically immune to injuries. There also was no blood at all when he got run through with a sword in chapter 2.
Coal is not dead but not alive. He has no working blood vessels so there’s no blood actively flowing through his body. So he also doesn’t blush or sweat or need to eat or anything. He’s semi-immortal at this point, but if someone hacked off his arm a new one isn’t gonna grow back. I guess technically there should be dark, dry blood on the arrow (and on the sword in chapter 2) but that would probably confuse readers. No blood at all is a bigger impact.
I used to be a berserker like you, then I took an arrow to the arm.
I’m gonna start charging people who reply with that joke.

Charging them while holding an enormous double-bladed axe?
Shirt’s got a new hole. The arm? Not so much.
They’re both fiiiiine.
Ibrahim is so precious. There wasn’t even any blood, man!
Some people just…don’t like things in arms!!

What? You’ve never seen anyone with a piercing before? Yes, a forearm piercing. Very fashionable where I come from.
“Makes getting dressed hell, though.”
“What I’m technically DEAD”
That always helps when getting shot at with arrows.

P.S. I just noticed the dainty little “faint” hehehe!
Ibrahim is a SCHOLAR he is not cut out for all this barbaric fighting and undead comrades stuff

Why is he holding the sword up side down?
Because… he was about to sword plant it into a guy’s chest?
He flipped the sword around so he wouldn’t accidentally stab Ibrahim in the face.
How thoughtful!
Didn’t even leave a mark.
So tough.

Thank you, that is a very insightful answer. I am always happy to see authors who put a lot of thought into their work.
Thank you for doing the arrow removal right, if a bit more field worky. (Heh.)
It is a very little thing, but its something that folks get wrong.
Hah! I can’t imagine any other way that wouldn’t make the wound worse…
